Saral moves on straight away. Keys from the same provider take turns, and a key that fails is rested: about a minute after a rate limit, an hour if it’s rejected, a few seconds after a timeout. Saral then tries your next key, model and provider in the order you set, including on-device Whisper if you’ve downloaded it.

Select text in any app, hold Fn Control on a Mac or Ctrl Alt Q on Windows, and say what you want: “make this friendlier”, “expand this”, “shorten it”. Saral rewrites the selection in place. Ask a question instead and your text stays put, with the answer added after it.

If the selection changes or the reply looks malformed, your original stays as it was, and an unclear request gets a quick question back instead of a guess.

AI Enhance uses the writing provider you’ve connected, so that provider’s usual charges apply.

Any app where you can type and paste: email, chat, documents, notes, browsers, code editors and AI tools. Saral writes into the app you were using, so there’s nothing to install inside each one.

Lists and tables arrive formatted wherever the app accepts rich text, and as clean plain text everywhere else.

Yes. The desktop app is a free download, and on-device recognition needs no account or API key.

If you connect cloud providers like Groq, Deepgram or OpenAI-compatible services, you use your own keys and their usual charges apply.

Yes, with an on-device model. Download a Whisper model in Settings → AI & models → On-device, select it, and dictation runs locally. Downloaded models keep working without a connection, and Saral never downloads weights on its own.

New Mac installs use Fn (the Globe key), and Windows uses Ctrl Alt Space. Hold to talk and release to insert, or switch to hands-free and press once to start and again to finish. Esc cancels.

You can record any combination in Settings. On a Mac, set “Press Fn key to” to “Do Nothing” in Keyboard settings so the emoji picker stays out of the way.

English, Hindi and Hinglish, plus the other languages your chosen speech engine supports. Use auto detect or pick a language, and choose whether Indic speech comes out in Latin or native script.

Built-in dictation writes down every word, including the ums and false starts, and leaves you to tidy up. Saral cleans up as it goes: it catches self-corrections, removes filler, adds punctuation, formats lists and tables, and respects your vocabulary and writing style.

The free build is signed with a persistent Saral identity but isn’t notarised by Apple yet. On first launch, approve it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt for a similar reason.

Please don’t disable Gatekeeper or other security protections to get around this.

Microphone access to hear you. On a Mac, Accessibility and Input Monitoring as well, so your shortcut works and text can be inserted. Saral’s Home screen shows anything that’s missing, and you can still set things up before granting access.
